Here are the lumber loads I have been working on. Cheap and easy. I took pics of some loads out on the BNSF main, resized them into a spreadsheet printed them and wrapped them around 1/4 basswood. There is priniting on all sides and all the visible sides line up. You can even see the corner guards under the straps at the top of the load. Something simple but I wanted to try it out.
They look very convincing
ReplyDeleteGreat way to do a simple prop! I highly approve of a properly done load of lumber... ;)
ReplyDeleteLookin good! I have to look close at some of your photos to figure out if I'm looking at a model shot or the real deal.
ReplyDeleteThose look like 60 foot cars. Where are they in use on the Skally? North end? Down here in White Bear Lake everything is 73 foot cars.
ReplyDeleteI consider the cars my version of selective compression. They don't take up all the space of the 73 footers. Maybe when the layout gets bigger I'll get the larger cars.
ReplyDeleteThe loads look great. Hope to see this in person some day. Are you planning on showing anywhere?
ReplyDeleteI've decided to make the same loads for some 73 footers (pogopod, you were right on about the prototype, so I decided to stay more true to it) I'll see what my NTrak group has coming up on the schedule for shows that I may be at.
ReplyDeleteI have a list af every 73' car that has been in White Bear/Hugo for the last couple of months. Very interesting list. If you wast it I would be happy to share it with you.
