Rush City Redo Part 5

Progress has been made. All the track is now laid through Rush City. I started to fill in the ties tonight. If I can get that done tomorrow I'll try to get the track spray painted later this week. I've already started installing Tortoise machines under the benchwork, 4 down, 4 to go.

This is the view from the South end towards Horizon Mill. The Federated Co-op siding is just out of frame at the bottom of the shot.
This is the view from the North end looking at the other side of the Mill. From this angle it is hard to see the siding for the Federated Co-op (12 feet away). Cutting down a pair of Atlas #10 turnouts to make the crossover was a little unnerving, but it's done now. For those that are wondering I went with a track spacing of 1.125" between the main and the siding (to the left in this shot).

  1. Howdy Karl. I've been following your work a while. Looks wonderful. I'm writing because I've recently named my band The Skally Line. I live in Sandstone and enjoy poking around local history, writing songs or tunes about what I find out, and just soaking it all up. I'd love to talk with you about what you know. I've got the 2 articles in the Mainstreeter and have read a bit on the MN History Center website but there doesn't appear to be much about the Skally Line out there. In fact, you could be helpful: I'm in need of logo designs and, though I don't want to infringe on any copyrights, would love to know if there was any visual identification particular to the Skally. You can see a little bit about what I play at http://fredkellermando.com/skallyline/. You can email me at whistlepigmando AT gmail DOT com. Thanks!
