I figured a should share some with all of you!</p><p>Here are some shots from Kalama, WA. It has two massive ship loading grain elevators, a steel mill, and an NP steam engine on display. The kits were a hot mess. I had to rebuild every bolster to the correct length. The decks were the wrong shape and had to be rebuilt. The details were poor castings, so I swapped in parts from other kits. I scratch built the loads from some prototype pics I found. I figured these were more visually appealing than the normal grey transformer loads. For those still following, I’ll get you up to speed. I did sell the Skally Line to a friend locally and in early 2020 I started a new layout. It it based on the WC White Pine Sub in 1996. More news on that soon. Last week I took the new layout to a large FreemoN meet in Evanston, WY, where it became part of a large (100’ x 150’) FreemoN layout. Here are some highlights:</div><div style="text-align: left;">Utah Railway power visiting White Pine<br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiViZlta3PWAbsfVMziqvg1zX0GfgKcTB86o3pLrEe7NuI9sH3V6Yny3tbVv6ZxyckWvIJsNUTeR4nPVFdYEctjzRGsvVj3N26BN7d8lCfEINzvscPCSp5EgqcjrlrAxwGbSmYqiEiB7TY/s2048/CDFB379D-E9EF-4BFB-A4C5-C9D12D5C37F9.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; So much going on... I’ve finally been making some progress after a little hiatus. I added a dozen new 2 Bay Intermountain covered hoppers. The couplers are all body mounted, so all I had to do was weather them and they were ready for unit train service.</div>

Progress is always good. I've been working on a series of HD flat cars, and wile doing that I decided to finish off some other fun projects. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The first was a Reefer Kit I got at the Chicagoland RPM. This was a great event filled with like minded modelers. I'm planning on using this car in some vintage Skally Line photo shoots. I just need to build a corresponding NP W-3 and caboose.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj1BRy4veALeCBqBGfHpnz6BNBx2CseO0GKBJ3q1AHgxFjp6KpzZ_cS5JkvIfuMs9SqbHu6EHNepgS1KSiX_RsmoPC6woKMKQQ1nQnwQ5nqw09ulnfvQVSrMjyZYsYw9T6oseZBKfNM7Uk/s1600/Reefer.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj1BRy4veALeCBqBGfHpnz6BNBx2CseO0GKBJ3q1AHgxFjp6KpzZ_cS5JkvIfuMs9SqbHu6EHNepgS1KSiX_RsmoPC6woKMKQQ1nQnwQ5nqw09ulnfvQVSrMjyZYsYw9T6oseZBKfNM7Uk/s320/Reefer.jpeg" width="320" /></a></div>
I also wanted to build a BNSF Scale Test Car. This was a 3D print I had to detail out and build a frame for.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgeRhocNNoMM4fStCGesu5c9n7GWF1O3Tl951XIqHIJrV4VR9PURAo2fVcQbMMwPjp8Q5jRfCuwAJvbxs-5A2uFJEPDbr4vJTLRFLYXn-jsXyx0YpxCSU3DHJNrK8S4MsHH-6CghzYep3w/s1600/ScaleCar.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgeRhocNNoMM4fStCGesu5c9n7GWF1O3Tl951XIqHIJrV4VR9PURAo2fVcQbMMwPjp8Q5jRfCuwAJvbxs-5A2uFJEPDbr4vJTLRFLYXn-jsXyx0YpxCSU3DHJNrK8S4MsHH-6CghzYep3w/s320/ScaleCar.jpeg" width="320" /></a></div>
With the scale test car done, I decided I needed to finish the scale at Ardent Mill in Rush City. I poured concrete in the North ends of Track 4 (right track in the photo), 5 (center), and 6 (left side and home of the Mills scale). It felt good to finally finish that up. I do need to add the concrete pad for the car puller on track 4, as well as detail the interior of the building. I have plenty of time to get that done.<br />

I've had a few big articles hit the pages of N Scale Railroading magazine.<br />
<br />
You may have seen my Schnabel car on the cover of the Nov/Dec issue of NSR. This monster build was my third cover, but it was only Part 1 of the Schnabel build.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
The Jan/Feb issue brought Part 2 of the build, as well as an article I did on building a little scenic truck. This was the first time I've had two articles printed in the same issue, and it brings me to 18 articles printed so far. I have more articles in queue and will have more done as soon as I get a little more layout progress done. I'll post some updates as soon as I get the work done.<br />

I've made layout progress, as well as freight car =, and automotive<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I finished the first of 5 HD flat cars. This one is QTTX 130725. I photographed the prototype on the Skally in December of 2012. This is an N Scale Kit. The load I scratch built. </div>

The only thing I haven't been keeping up on has been this blog! I need to be more diligent about that. See you in 2019!Karl A.http://www.blogger.com/profile/16321265208083134312noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5767113014845281327.post-36293021891539035492018-08-13T11:42:00.000-07:002018-08-13T11:42:00.972-07:00Summer Progress and PlanningAs I make my way through the summer heat here in Vegas, I have been plinking away at different projects. I have a few more articles off to N Scale Railroading, they should be in the next few issues. I've been working on some freight cars for a friend (pics are coming soon), I've added few small details to the layout, and I'm planning for a year away.<br />
<br />
As many of you know, the NMRA convention was this last weekend in Kansas City. I didn't make that show, but I am planning on being at next years show in Salt Lake City. The plan is to bring the entire Skally Line up to join in the MASSIVE FreemoN layout. I think the layout is already scheduled to be about 110 feet by 110 feet. To make the full scale ops work better, I am planning a few additional modules. I have already started prep work and I will pick up lumber next week.<br />
<br />
The first module planned is Pine City. I will have the Depot, the Snake River Bridge, and a small MOW siding.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj_jawFad4AgYe-T-gYl3aJNzasebbr_XW0gyJoTbOym5yRLohb1F48JGf0YB8g484pYYfmk4JenX_Okwz6SfWl7tGxZ0DhoYtq0zaQ2WIruH6_MEVFbuTAPXxc1BUTKcLi8OCny80xKBs/s1600/Pine+City.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="295" data-original-width="1207" height="78" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj_jawFad4AgYe-T-gYl3aJNzasebbr_XW0gyJoTbOym5yRLohb1F48JGf0YB8g484pYYfmk4JenX_Okwz6SfWl7tGxZ0DhoYtq0zaQ2WIruH6_MEVFbuTAPXxc1BUTKcLi8OCny80xKBs/s320/Pine+City.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
The next module is the South Siding Switch in Hinckley. This will extend the BNSF side of my interchange modules. I would like to get the BNSF siding up to 10 or 12 feet long for the show so it will be a good spot for meets.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEglCfcdqAvjZ1_F5ubvf2c7HUfFYHc4JaJHfdC25T1asNHgdo7K7eickCmxGDSX5f4v48wWQnxOLRz0NfIB1VWPBwnuzZfJQuiNR5kvPLbYFM8Xv2q1gBQxgwmQH2rfuskBsQZl_iQn0WE/s1600/SSS+HIN.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="292" data-original-width="1200" height="77" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEglCfcdqAvjZ1_F5ubvf2c7HUfFYHc4JaJHfdC25T1asNHgdo7K7eickCmxGDSX5f4v48wWQnxOLRz0NfIB1VWPBwnuzZfJQuiNR5kvPLbYFM8Xv2q1gBQxgwmQH2rfuskBsQZl_iQn0WE/s320/SSS+HIN.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The weather is cooling off already and I would like to take advantage of that for module construction. </div>

I had some nice time to make progress on some projects over the last couple of weeks. I was able to finish up a few things I've been working on. I finished ILSX SW1500 #942. It is currently in testing on the Skally. It was a full detail, repaint, and weathering. I had to modify an SP unit by filling 2/3 of the lights and filling in extra windows.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEji6g2XqHiH3fZ4LFU1i6z6wHSQ5127ILQHw8-rNb-KWLLok7MYKN7j5x1RJ71qu0pF6sU9hO_0AaQm9VeMp0ZKA2WhisjkD5-CNWhGs3Xy1bp4JfhdB446XAdVT4tMGJuZpNx4-2QxUFA/s1600/942.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="720" data-original-width="960" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEji6g2XqHiH3fZ4LFU1i6z6wHSQ5127ILQHw8-rNb-KWLLok7MYKN7j5x1RJ71qu0pF6sU9hO_0AaQm9VeMp0ZKA2WhisjkD5-CNWhGs3Xy1bp4JfhdB446XAdVT4tMGJuZpNx4-2QxUFA/s320/942.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
The next thing to finish off was the second of my Jordan Spreaders. I decided to make this one a MILW unit. I didn't rust it as bad as the prototype I based it off of, but it gets the point across.<br />

I'm also making progress on my Schnabel project. The car is done, the load is mostly done, I just need to get it weathered and bolted to the car.<br />

Here are some of the projects hanging out together. I have a few cars to finish for a friend and then I will turn my attention back to the layout.Karl A.http://www.blogger.com/profile/16321265208083134312noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5767113014845281327.post-13909516373358729522018-05-12T07:44:00.000-07:002018-05-12T07:44:05.236-07:00I'm still here!Ok, that was a long gap in updating the blog. It wasn't that I wasn't making progress, it was that it was tough to stop and make a post about it.<br />
Here are some highlights:<br />
I've had a couple of ops sessions. Things have been working well, I've been tuning turnouts for better performance.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEivtzjBf_FA20yGi_05-IRLwPJRzODUCqhgYzkp-Yw0enWSgsR8hZX5ePGyukHdV3KAE2dq-Ga6qQBbFbvnb94RZ01QeTCFgCZfZo-OgFyOnrY2ppG5HvtLbfuPsJePReCF7003Uuq7PEs/s1600/Ops.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="720" data-original-width="960" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEivtzjBf_FA20yGi_05-IRLwPJRzODUCqhgYzkp-Yw0enWSgsR8hZX5ePGyukHdV3KAE2dq-Ga6qQBbFbvnb94RZ01QeTCFgCZfZo-OgFyOnrY2ppG5HvtLbfuPsJePReCF7003Uuq7PEs/s320/Ops.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I've been working on misc. projects. Here is one Jordan Spreader I just built. I have one more to knock out. </div>

Details. I made this trailer from a Showcase Miniatures kit. You can also see one of the ILS SW1500s I've been working on (924). ILSX 942 is on the workbench now.<br />

I made progress on several scenes on the layout. Tiller and Zinpro have progressed the most. I will get back to them later this summer.<br />

I finally finished some engines for a friend in Chicago and got them off my workbench. I had an MRC Sound decoder fail in SCXY 1325, so I swapped an ESU LokSound Micro in its place (huge improvement). I am having fun making layout progress right now, so that has been a big focus of the month.<br />
<br />
I made some more progress on Ivy Farms Trucking. I added the shingled roof to the main building. I also repainted the pole barn and got it weathered.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEibKFh0msN_A2F_WsvZoRazUfGKKNL6ljGjhfv5NCNSxlQgLfrp9xX9VjL90-gN1jzzwPmbap4GZbGwGlPmJvJty6vClgL4HPjt4ualEBH1rF6LjY6WAlryDs-_DKKEYDncar4lGfwRx38/s1600/Ivy_Farms2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="720" data-original-width="960" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEibKFh0msN_A2F_WsvZoRazUfGKKNL6ljGjhfv5NCNSxlQgLfrp9xX9VjL90-gN1jzzwPmbap4GZbGwGlPmJvJty6vClgL4HPjt4ualEBH1rF6LjY6WAlryDs-_DKKEYDncar4lGfwRx38/s320/Ivy_Farms2.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
I got the Creekside Cafe almost done. The outside is painted, roof is on, and signage was added for the cafe and the Other Side Bar.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhCfCNR3VV7nbGtgcVLysXxoV9Zc8ax0ZXFgBBBJRsx_YXrWOBW1roR6wkoDWkfEGatTN0kIhl94zkjTbFVkDIpjW5PkUUKdua3MboNioZu0KjR9Xxupmkxv3D8PA70Eo-hLS_QpCUVQF4/s1600/Creekside.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="720" data-original-width="960" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhCfCNR3VV7nbGtgcVLysXxoV9Zc8ax0ZXFgBBBJRsx_YXrWOBW1roR6wkoDWkfEGatTN0kIhl94zkjTbFVkDIpjW5PkUUKdua3MboNioZu0KjR9Xxupmkxv3D8PA70Eo-hLS_QpCUVQF4/s320/Creekside.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
Inside I added tables, chairs, bar stools and a pool table. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

I'm losing track with so much going on. It was the build on the Clinchfield Hopper I made for the Skally. It was a fun and easy project. Hopefully I can get another printed before the end of the year.<br />

<br />
The one I stalled on was my Wisconsin Central Mega Log Hauler. I got mentally geared up and added a couple hundred pieces of styrene to it. <br />

It has been time consuming, but rewarding to see it happen.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

The other project is in a holding pattern. I've got all the parts here or on order. It will be a big one. Here you can see the 36 axles that will fit under WECX 800, the largest railcar in the world. The N Scale version will be 17" long, plus I'm going to build a load for it that will make it over 24" long. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

I'm also going to build a support flatcar and an escort caboose for the monster Schnabel Car. Here is the start of that car.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhBoHVNo-uPO9rPz-nwu38qK8L2QzHeq4QJAKqJRE2jaw-hT3aH1-ZXDaZXndJN8d0dIzomq1XvqFOXA_nepNP2eIPRmObjekxi78Rk9CdLHudVsdlzSVWfY6VNCooGhKGWGUXTvSECNw0/s1600/Flatcar.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="720" data-original-width="960" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhBoHVNo-uPO9rPz-nwu38qK8L2QzHeq4QJAKqJRE2jaw-hT3aH1-ZXDaZXndJN8d0dIzomq1XvqFOXA_nepNP2eIPRmObjekxi78Rk9CdLHudVsdlzSVWfY6VNCooGhKGWGUXTvSECNw0/s320/Flatcar.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
I may be thinning my fleet down again soon, I always seem to have more cars than I need and I want to make room for higher quality pieces as they become available. Karl A.http://www.blogger.com/profile/16321265208083134312noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5767113014845281327.post-28698395148742257412017-10-18T11:32:00.000-07:002017-10-18T11:32:09.984-07:00So much to share!I know it has been a while since my last post (2 months, sorry about that). I've been getting an amazing amount of things done. I will break this into three posts, the first one will be layout progress. The second will be freight car projects and the third will be my latest magazine article.<br />
<br />
I added another grade crossing, this one is 420th St. I wanted to add this crossing for the unique NP style crossbuck posts. I painted them myself and I added the switch stand for the sand plant.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Here it was in the rough stages.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhivMZ4VVeYbQovfMifgna2sT1h7G8id951lo2ZMJZmy13Oxl7ORqncP2CLCYU6uzL4fAeNBOz_0G9tA_HPfczB6R0qJfVbWvAoMoqVkhBzpKwFe3p7ZxMo06rMIMVgDlcHW7q8HrDK540/s1600/Rough+Road.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="720" data-original-width="960" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhivMZ4VVeYbQovfMifgna2sT1h7G8id951lo2ZMJZmy13Oxl7ORqncP2CLCYU6uzL4fAeNBOz_0G9tA_HPfczB6R0qJfVbWvAoMoqVkhBzpKwFe3p7ZxMo06rMIMVgDlcHW7q8HrDK540/s320/Rough+Road.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
I added more trees and a switch stand in Hinckley at MP 74.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Yesterday and today in Rush City I ran trains. Sometimes it can be therapeutic to have an ops session. <br />

I was having some camera fun and shot this picture of Ivy Farms Trucking. I have a new special edition Prairie Shadows/TrainWorx James Bond Edition Kenworth coming that should look right at home here.<br />

I added the 415th St crossing to Zinpro and Titan last month.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgqIJl5W6KhyphenhyphendGEEUiHDFXIGoqb02GYwqwFqVJK_5S9PDwO75LCaoMwSjJrSPeoMtVaqTWbntKObGpxVIEFmLxcQAS0Nski1xHGbidoLElcGyr6jChaQrazFO1eeZ8WpE-qO0kvtyGy2M0/s1600/Zinpro.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="720" data-original-width="960" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgqIJl5W6KhyphenhyphendGEEUiHDFXIGoqb02GYwqwFqVJK_5S9PDwO75LCaoMwSjJrSPeoMtVaqTWbntKObGpxVIEFmLxcQAS0Nski1xHGbidoLElcGyr6jChaQrazFO1eeZ8WpE-qO0kvtyGy2M0/s320/Zinpro.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
As well as signage and trees at Titan Lansing.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi6ntly-kYIgqUJ5h37AlOou8R1wu5VzSe-6NasJ9ciP07HxFi3u5WbrI6cpJqSQ_PUyNAVmT-SMIb9oMqCJ3fUHZoXhk1eJ4bS04Ls8fCuk_sgqVEuBVKC9HqRmf8hyw-sYaSt_XpkZBs/s1600/Titan+Sign.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="960" data-original-width="720" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi6ntly-kYIgqUJ5h37AlOou8R1wu5VzSe-6NasJ9ciP07HxFi3u5WbrI6cpJqSQ_PUyNAVmT-SMIb9oMqCJ3fUHZoXhk1eJ4bS04Ls8fCuk_sgqVEuBVKC9HqRmf8hyw-sYaSt_XpkZBs/s320/Titan+Sign.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
Zinpro progressed rapidly from foam core mock up to styrene structure. I still have a lot of work to do, but it looks better than an empty scene.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEitMd3jEhWw7hdAWfA-tW5-i0JcmB1iRySLNd0PjScQ64s0Lq4bYjr5xNINIWHOajuGG8B9hLvaznLdSwQEeG6Z2gikPPR-tiD_KWrM34wu_4lGLG06g6f_Dj6v2J8YPTCClVoV87wn2v8/s1600/Zinpro_Bldg.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="720" data-original-width="960" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEitMd3jEhWw7hdAWfA-tW5-i0JcmB1iRySLNd0PjScQ64s0Lq4bYjr5xNINIWHOajuGG8B9hLvaznLdSwQEeG6Z2gikPPR-tiD_KWrM34wu_4lGLG06g6f_Dj6v2J8YPTCClVoV87wn2v8/s320/Zinpro_Bldg.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
I also built the loadout shed for Zinpro. This really changed the look of the scene too.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg_WGpQcOTGR8Zz9ulw2Qqm-u71OxET7TpWJ4IWUg4naZajPk1MmESOtg5wWsjfqpEVlaFbn18zjVXvk7fshJT942D9DgKwSueemHXgxbfFIJe1XlnZaIwiKnEOIxmN2gsh_mmXl13Szz8/s1600/Zinpro_Shed.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="720" data-original-width="960" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg_WGpQcOTGR8Zz9ulw2Qqm-u71OxET7TpWJ4IWUg4naZajPk1MmESOtg5wWsjfqpEVlaFbn18zjVXvk7fshJT942D9DgKwSueemHXgxbfFIJe1XlnZaIwiKnEOIxmN2gsh_mmXl13Szz8/s320/Zinpro_Shed.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
So most of the progress has been scenicing. It is nice to be getting the layout to a more finished state. I hope to get back into tree making soon, that always helps. In the Sept/Oct NSR Magazine, I have a detailed BNSF AC44C4M build. I'm happy with how this one came out! There is also a great update on Bill Edgar's North Shore Int. (Duluth, MN to Thunder Bay, ON) layout. Hopefully I can get 1 or 2 more printed by the end of the year.<br />

I'm happy to announce I have another article coming out in the upcoming issue of NSR. It is a full build up on my AC44C4M. 10 pages of fun!<br />
<br />
It has been warm working on the layout, but I have been progressing just the same. Mostly scenery work. I was heavy into the making of trees, but now I have transitioned into roads. It feels good to be getting all this asphalt down.<br />
<br />
To recap:<br />
More trees in Hinckley. I have now planted two full boxes of Scenic Express Super Trees (250-ish trees). I think 4-5 more boxes will get me to a good place. MP 74 looks good, I need to fill in all the way to MP 75.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi98v4ta_jZJV_ErmnfOCEghykJiGvBGFzIz4pI8juwigYpa-MiQywNPHBLbLxv1KZbUGN_bz57cwf7fk2kFlj0cfmfek6givVyI3dX3xnWS24oMCxh7tDYj8JZcl7qMweE5p3xj6XKXz4/s1600/Trees.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="720" data-original-width="960" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi98v4ta_jZJV_ErmnfOCEghykJiGvBGFzIz4pI8juwigYpa-MiQywNPHBLbLxv1KZbUGN_bz57cwf7fk2kFlj0cfmfek6givVyI3dX3xnWS24oMCxh7tDYj8JZcl7qMweE5p3xj6XKXz4/s320/Trees.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
At the Horizon Mill, I added the fall protection system above the flour cars (yellow structure) and a radio tower behind the HQ.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhNNru-j2QLnOHb2WKrRyuI27dJdZfFyNoNXHKlS4rhBQdy3UFKY6RlmYaoh1jM-Sp5OHL8dAZ1CHAk3jTNB8SZwLelqXQ64sIJ7bZpzA4AMOBPwU1O_4E9TKboorP9Os4ygcilJmaSgNM/s1600/Horizon+Safety.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="720" data-original-width="960" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhNNru-j2QLnOHb2WKrRyuI27dJdZfFyNoNXHKlS4rhBQdy3UFKY6RlmYaoh1jM-Sp5OHL8dAZ1CHAk3jTNB8SZwLelqXQ64sIJ7bZpzA4AMOBPwU1O_4E9TKboorP9Os4ygcilJmaSgNM/s320/Horizon+Safety.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>

I started experimenting with the Woodland Scenics Smooth-It Road system. I started with W 1st St in Rush City.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhDSSqDntGRdc4qn4CFnH037EPKQ2CXHY-_EQi70gUtCAQDfvEDdAmc844l5rPHssdlgv5gZukz1nX8eLBUp27CxrsCSO6TGT84iQO6bntGgZpiQqhSnQmXkJgAoVcJ4rTdz3ws9PF0y3w/s1600/Rush+Road.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="720" data-original-width="960" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhDSSqDntGRdc4qn4CFnH037EPKQ2CXHY-_EQi70gUtCAQDfvEDdAmc844l5rPHssdlgv5gZukz1nX8eLBUp27CxrsCSO6TGT84iQO6bntGgZpiQqhSnQmXkJgAoVcJ4rTdz3ws9PF0y3w/s320/Rush+Road.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
From there I went to CRR 133 in Hinckley. The Pan Pastel weathering really brought it home.<br />

Next I added the blacktop to 415th St in North Branch. I mocked up Zinpro in Foam Core before I started the project. Since taking this photo I have weathered the blacktop, contoured the terrain between Zinpro and the road and I added the crossbucks at the grade crossing.<br />

I mocked up the Titan office in Foam Core, but then I got excited, so I built the styrene verion. I still need to paint it, but I have since added the grass to the right of the building and one of the AC units outside. I hope to install the Titan-Lansing sign tonight.<br />

I think that gets everyone caught up with the bulk of the work. Hopefully my next update will come sooner!Karl A.http://www.blogger.com/profile/16321265208083134312noreply@blogger.com6tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5767113014845281327.post-83302816661366836292017-05-29T14:18:00.000-07:002017-05-29T14:18:02.613-07:00May UpdateWhere did this month go? I seriously blinked and it was gone!<br />
I've made progress in a few different areas this month. Engines, freight cars, structures and scenery.<br />
<br />
I finally finished the BNSF AC44C4M I started 3 years ago. This will be added to my BNSF fleet for unit sand train power. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjHjOJqUEYkBz94bAVWhBELWNQt9wDPHTMdS4WPtSIGNa3tgMNKoYZnQktcrYWGd3x6hCYJAkVnj8xa4X8KtlfP6yfYq7W2X289mHRSO2DA9q2pel3dUUjZnPEsI0TyT3H-EIG1rgQ9yHI/s1600/AC44C4M.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="720" data-original-width="960" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjHjOJqUEYkBz94bAVWhBELWNQt9wDPHTMdS4WPtSIGNa3tgMNKoYZnQktcrYWGd3x6hCYJAkVnj8xa4X8KtlfP6yfYq7W2X289mHRSO2DA9q2pel3dUUjZnPEsI0TyT3H-EIG1rgQ9yHI/s320/AC44C4M.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
I also finished a custom ES44C4 project. This one will probably head to eBay. I like the Swooshes, but I think I have more than I need. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhAzVKektxQqYfJjTcsElTa8RfGVbqs_u99vXyttasYA3C0R9xlV6XPShePlr1IAmYwSmJ4I4vZovQI5wHyQ0XVlFhaaIPgamv8yUSNMdXqff6HzAkngrXJ8lTf-xMPInlRySAI2mslmA4/s1600/ES44C4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="720" data-original-width="960" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhAzVKektxQqYfJjTcsElTa8RfGVbqs_u99vXyttasYA3C0R9xlV6XPShePlr1IAmYwSmJ4I4vZovQI5wHyQ0XVlFhaaIPgamv8yUSNMdXqff6HzAkngrXJ8lTf-xMPInlRySAI2mslmA4/s320/ES44C4.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
Work has started on the control tower for Titan-Lansing. I have a ways to go, but I'm happy to get this one kicked off.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEicB078UZUZ01SFYwebVqb9-gFPjn7gaWFsGEiB1X80i1OlCoea6Nw9Ko_p6v6yXRb-yk8kUfBVGEkD-nW0DO6DaOfy0eJJBGg85JDUdxBrcTxypzMzPJBCt_nUn_ALub4B071HpACPUpk/s1600/Tower_start.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="720" data-original-width="960" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEicB078UZUZ01SFYwebVqb9-gFPjn7gaWFsGEiB1X80i1OlCoea6Nw9Ko_p6v6yXRb-yk8kUfBVGEkD-nW0DO6DaOfy0eJJBGg85JDUdxBrcTxypzMzPJBCt_nUn_ALub4B071HpACPUpk/s320/Tower_start.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
You can see the prototype in the lower left part of this photo. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEimlZmX0aXuhchUIygAd4YIAny3QJqxoSFqWAkRCzx-71cxiuhMKFYI5lx-TkEjM3uJ21lAx20v4wAvNO-ugl4-4_kyix9IsQ3pkuBMWBlVA4CpYJ6L_0ufxaew7LqF5ZfON4xisxjnsW8/s1600/Titan_tower.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="540" data-original-width="960" height="180" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEimlZmX0aXuhchUIygAd4YIAny3QJqxoSFqWAkRCzx-71cxiuhMKFYI5lx-TkEjM3uJ21lAx20v4wAvNO-ugl4-4_kyix9IsQ3pkuBMWBlVA4CpYJ6L_0ufxaew7LqF5ZfON4xisxjnsW8/s320/Titan_tower.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
I also got another box of SuperTrees. I made about 100 so far, I think that gets me up to about 400 or 500 trees on the layout so far.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgpknn3Dvki3QJH6mJU5Ia1fwxQffN63tTg9YwskhOuj_HehmdDETVhQD7tDFahPX2vZ_KuxlIwlR_a977ZCc8oFVgjXir69sqQXtesr_PGWXReaZlkylNjMmrCDC7ZTY76spCNii7su2E/s1600/Trees.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="720" data-original-width="960" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgpknn3Dvki3QJH6mJU5Ia1fwxQffN63tTg9YwskhOuj_HehmdDETVhQD7tDFahPX2vZ_KuxlIwlR_a977ZCc8oFVgjXir69sqQXtesr_PGWXReaZlkylNjMmrCDC7ZTY76spCNii7su2E/s320/Trees.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
I also body mounted the couplers and added conspicuity striping to a few more freight cars. I think I have about 2/3 of the layout cars body mounted at this point. I think I'm only about 60% on the conspicuity striping. At least they all are weathered and have metal wheels. They seem to be a great way to stimulate progress.<br />
<br />
My last session lasted a little over 2 hours and flowed well. I think I only had to bad order one car the entire time, and over 50 cars were moved during the session. <br />
<br />
Here a cut of cars are being brought into Rush City. The sole bad order was moved to the engine house for repair. The Master Car Repairmen there had it back in service the next day.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhTAzcVRaXUjSF8DqLJUh3NNQWDu9nkOL8pTSywNFisNRUxWuGjPAVP8T9TyKrANLX-dS2cspBvqZPgQMW3vNzEnxyDTLMiAYKxw-e6Wke0TI6RxM52zu8iCADvPw4Nl_xZIAunUqRgWlg/s1600/OPS.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhTAzcVRaXUjSF8DqLJUh3NNQWDu9nkOL8pTSywNFisNRUxWuGjPAVP8T9TyKrANLX-dS2cspBvqZPgQMW3vNzEnxyDTLMiAYKxw-e6Wke0TI6RxM52zu8iCADvPw4Nl_xZIAunUqRgWlg/s320/OPS.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
The scene if filling in nicely. The Mill got a base coat of white and is waiting for detailing. The garage behind the Masonic Lodge is in and the ground cover is expanding. There is less than half a square foot left to cover in the 18 square feet of Rush City.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhP-tDgHTbg960HZVmabdzdv4bW54pDPShLzcyDscWCRHcD3SybUF1eXDMYxM6PQkhNGuzIW2eMqcRmi078pygEPcloEamMcOfYry-ILbEFLRaV6Ag2d3oNnUz7N_C_ZO_i33j709xugyY/s1600/Rush+City.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhP-tDgHTbg960HZVmabdzdv4bW54pDPShLzcyDscWCRHcD3SybUF1eXDMYxM6PQkhNGuzIW2eMqcRmi078pygEPcloEamMcOfYry-ILbEFLRaV6Ag2d3oNnUz7N_C_ZO_i33j709xugyY/s320/Rush+City.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
I began work on the Creekside Cafe, another Rush City landmark taking shape.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

The Prototype:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

I also worked more on Ivy Farms. It turns out they are a trucking company. That makes a lot more sense than the dairy they once were.<br />

Rock Creek is closer to done too. I got the rails painted, I repainted the bridge piers and added guard rails. I got more of the ground cover done (it still has a long way to go). But the bridge is in an weathered. Best of all it holds up trains.<br />

Thanks for watching!Karl A.http://www.blogger.com/profile/16321265208083134312noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5767113014845281327.post-25099326851007772072017-03-02T09:31:00.001-08:002017-03-02T09:31:30.995-08:00Feb/March UpdateI was hoping to get this update out last month, but I've been busy. Right now I am trying to get Rush City closer to completion. There are so many details my mind (and camera) remember that it is hard to capture them all. There are some gaps to fill in, but I'm getting there.<br />
<br />
Grade crossing are close to done. I still need to figure out detection so I can have the lights and bells operate.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhCXxB37G1erzshzzcFPUI5IMrXuINQBRAtexjKGYQMdA69-MXcMUhyrO5kEej6NaG3fu_vRJyugn2Du3FEKerHMBTGz9YJh62Oy5c7tnjvBaakpqzYsykwQw481m2EqX4hKYfVLULBTU8/s1600/crossing.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhCXxB37G1erzshzzcFPUI5IMrXuINQBRAtexjKGYQMdA69-MXcMUhyrO5kEej6NaG3fu_vRJyugn2Du3FEKerHMBTGz9YJh62Oy5c7tnjvBaakpqzYsykwQw481m2EqX4hKYfVLULBTU8/s320/crossing.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
The forests continue to grow. I found I can make about 80-90 N Scale trees out of one box of Super Trees.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiBmf1Wj-u4LZoYtxK8AlKmzwTEN9cwAVLoNLxROlrZ4AjeXPc_zCmKgNofob-RHNG9nANesHZu9lBly2qpFod8mC9NyFsvTkc66dWHJvCZWKPtNWwBuE8pdvhEZaCfnQJ1XVyAE1LRIwk/s1600/trees.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiBmf1Wj-u4LZoYtxK8AlKmzwTEN9cwAVLoNLxROlrZ4AjeXPc_zCmKgNofob-RHNG9nANesHZu9lBly2qpFod8mC9NyFsvTkc66dWHJvCZWKPtNWwBuE8pdvhEZaCfnQJ1XVyAE1LRIwk/s320/trees.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
The Mill is getting detailed, here the loading dock progresses. The parking lot is next.<br />

The garage for the funeral home is in. I didn't feel like scratch building it, so I had it 3D printed for me.<br />

It will be a few weeks till I get any more done, work is keeping me busy right now! Thanks for watching!Karl A.http://www.blogger.com/profile/16321265208083134312noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5767113014845281327.post-18803335354245061612017-01-14T07:46:00.000-08:002017-01-14T07:46:52.137-08:00Happy New Year!I find when I get on a roll making progress, I forget to document it. I missed December altogether, so I will get you up to speed.<br />
<br />
First I want to take a look back to a year ago to remind us what the Skally Line looked like then:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj9STAFsvOd-FYqHSXMyToANOEe5DRpwQGZoc4zzRkH8UIcMi8CckosaxsTXKQSRkoZ088DAKK_K7rhjWsmYmdGfsP7XnSbLWvB5vq2Q9hP8Vm9LwZ1xZea3KPhtwcjKZa9NXN0WG4Vqd0/s1600/OldRushCity.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj9STAFsvOd-FYqHSXMyToANOEe5DRpwQGZoc4zzRkH8UIcMi8CckosaxsTXKQSRkoZ088DAKK_K7rhjWsmYmdGfsP7XnSbLWvB5vq2Q9hP8Vm9LwZ1xZea3KPhtwcjKZa9NXN0WG4Vqd0/s320/OldRushCity.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
Since then I replaced the foam-core mill with the styrene version (still not painted), I finished the engine house and the speeder shed. I have done a bunch of ballasting and ground cover as well. The same scene looks a lot different today:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhi7JuOm8VHrnFGk7R2VsuuJpybo8zB97KE1cdI1ALfgURif5ToPMAZx9j2r87E5GTk6IzNGn6fNBvlUfwjmmhbxcD77O7isKQdJ0sYsMdCztcFXwzMq6xDJVW9rYdK8xC4MS3qLMze_js/s1600/Skally2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhi7JuOm8VHrnFGk7R2VsuuJpybo8zB97KE1cdI1ALfgURif5ToPMAZx9j2r87E5GTk6IzNGn6fNBvlUfwjmmhbxcD77O7isKQdJ0sYsMdCztcFXwzMq6xDJVW9rYdK8xC4MS3qLMze_js/s320/Skally2.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
Taking a step back we can see the park across from the Masonic Lodge. I've started making SuperTrees where appropriate. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj-LN95lB8c4GZ9pSbClItPUVNubEbr57iB-V07muCH-wAqbGp4K9_Jbgvb6gizr3J6k1YH28-Qjhq9ldT8XuIy8_62PSwiwJBIIG1znpMWHLaImOs72nQMN1BX8O01epRYDQaF11YfKho/s1600/Rush+City.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj-LN95lB8c4GZ9pSbClItPUVNubEbr57iB-V07muCH-wAqbGp4K9_Jbgvb6gizr3J6k1YH28-Qjhq9ldT8XuIy8_62PSwiwJBIIG1znpMWHLaImOs72nQMN1BX8O01epRYDQaF11YfKho/s320/Rush+City.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
Here is the view looking south at the Mill. You can see the north engine house switch that got added just after the prototype last year. I finally got some good PD hoppers for hauling flour, thank you BLMA/Atlas. These are amazing looking cars.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj-oAfTvsVmEYSf9xhztBPwHEZ3Z13qdBBkrocpPIUYI6X3ykAA0Fw77YexKvUAE0GfA2l-t-0XToUuRIWzqTMVQFXJJ-98NK_amXrZSLLOhKI61vHXXwwAgcF3463bh1OFBrNTyqVOFyo/s1600/Skally1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj-oAfTvsVmEYSf9xhztBPwHEZ3Z13qdBBkrocpPIUYI6X3ykAA0Fw77YexKvUAE0GfA2l-t-0XToUuRIWzqTMVQFXJJ-98NK_amXrZSLLOhKI61vHXXwwAgcF3463bh1OFBrNTyqVOFyo/s320/Skally1.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
Ivy Farms Creamery has started to take shape just north of the Mill. I still have a building and a half to finish there, but the scene feels more complete already.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhz5cHjPxCeMbkp2SMw-Crn4E8pqJBidM1snOhw_hDgkZJB36i1cGrlUPmS35LaP5-maiZkpWtv7aQVODVoElWqL34YVm3LzXBKvEgrTOsys-Pt7xW2hhSMxu-URSdBZvmgJFwIr-veoWs/s1600/Skally3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhz5cHjPxCeMbkp2SMw-Crn4E8pqJBidM1snOhw_hDgkZJB36i1cGrlUPmS35LaP5-maiZkpWtv7aQVODVoElWqL34YVm3LzXBKvEgrTOsys-Pt7xW2hhSMxu-URSdBZvmgJFwIr-veoWs/s320/Skally3.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
Here is a look at the Masonic Lodge before I installed it on the layout. After sitting for two years I finally finished the front stoop, the front door, the fire escape and some other details. I just need to make decals for the signs now.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiEnhW-uV3IH4KdSKSiql6zqulHFw0TY9t3cBtgRedXkKGh8rg18C8c5kDdM4too_eCgug23dtPsrKvuz2InQpEOmCNvBSBu1Gh51UOb7zRyapfJjxhwgLkcm2ZiCxrRT__-mi6FGiXUUc/s1600/Jasper.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiEnhW-uV3IH4KdSKSiql6zqulHFw0TY9t3cBtgRedXkKGh8rg18C8c5kDdM4too_eCgug23dtPsrKvuz2InQpEOmCNvBSBu1Gh51UOb7zRyapfJjxhwgLkcm2ZiCxrRT__-mi6FGiXUUc/s320/Jasper.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
I'm glad I got the pictures looking back. When you stare at it every day, it doesn't feel like much has happened. But then you look back and see how much you really did get done. I hope this year yields the same amount of progress.Karl A.http://www.blogger.com/profile/16321265208083134312noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5767113014845281327.post-8856769041637676002016-11-29T17:20:00.002-08:002016-11-29T17:20:54.145-08:00The November BreakIn November I have to start making sure I take days off, before New Years hits. I took advantage of the time to make some Skally progress.<br />
I've been working one end of the line to the other... in Rush City I added the roof to the engine house. I need to add some details and then paint it up. I also weathered all the new flour cars, so they don't look so... new. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhS_P0vmoUZWZrMU8wJR09mzULPjVutZCyHTOgVMfYcaQ2EQ5vxmxWzu6NKvgqCjh10HqUpPf6dHguBsw4zN49BlzZ9eN8SseHOso-MVMIK2P0CwJfAROhBC_yOqwQTqT97-BFB2AnISkU/s1600/DSCN4285.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="238" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhS_P0vmoUZWZrMU8wJR09mzULPjVutZCyHTOgVMfYcaQ2EQ5vxmxWzu6NKvgqCjh10HqUpPf6dHguBsw4zN49BlzZ9eN8SseHOso-MVMIK2P0CwJfAROhBC_yOqwQTqT97-BFB2AnISkU/s320/DSCN4285.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
I added some sidewalks to 4th St. Now I need to fill in the park and add an artillery piece.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

I forgot to mention I also started the electrical substation that sits just North of the Ardent Mill.<br />

I added the newest customer on the line, Interstate Energy. The LPG cars are already off-loading. <br />

I scratch built the unloading racks. I'll go back an spruce the scene up later, but it works for now.<br />

I finally made it back to the Rock Creek bridge. Sorry for the bad exposure on the shot. I hope to get some track permanently set soon on this one.<br />

Tiller, or should I say "Titan-Lansing" now has started to materialize. I mocked up the sand sorting and cleaning tower (to scale) out of foamcore and I built the loadout shed (out of styrene). The construction trailer is there to remind me to finish the scene... <br />
